Holistic Wellness

Addiction recovery isn’t merely about addressing drug or alcohol abuse. It’s about achieving health for the whole person. Experience Recovery emphasizes holistic wellness, encompassing the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of each client.

Experience Recovery values complete wellness. Problems in one area of your life can impact other areas of your life. Improving your overall wellness can benefit your mental health. Experience Recovery implements SAMSHA to SAMSHA’s Eight Dimensions of Wellness to improve mental and physical health.

The Eight Dimensions of Wellness are:

  • Emotional – Coping effectively with life and creating satisfying relationships
  • Environmental – Good health by occupying pleasant, stimulating environments that support well-being
  • Financial – Satisfaction with current and future financial situations
  • Intellectual – Recognizing creative abilities and finding ways to expand knowledge and skills
  • Occupational – Personal satisfaction and enrichment from one’s work
  • Physical – Recognizing the need for physical activity, healthy foods, and sleep
  • Social – Developing a sense of connection, belonging, and a well-developed support system
  • Spiritual – Expanding a sense of purpose and meaning in life

Our therapists and clinicians also work with clients to cultivate the skills needed for healthy living—not just eating right and sleeping sufficiently, but also coping properly with anxiety, stress, anger, and burnout.

Experience Recovery integrates mental health, substance use and primary care services in all areas of treatment. The goal of wellness will be to follow a healthy lifestyle, working with a primary care doctor, address emotional health, nutrition and diet, and reduce stress.

Creating an environment that lends itself to the significance of positive health is the goal for Experience Recovery. We believe that one’s health nourishes hope, greater self-esteem, and self-efficacy. Nutrition plays an important part in your recovery and Experience Recovery takes pride in providing healthy meals created by a professional chef paying close attention to your special dietary needs, allergies and dietary restrictions. Along with 3 nutritious meals, healthy snacks are provided throughout your day. (add sample menu and chef meeting)

Physical Fitness

After you transition from your detox Experience Recovery offers a complete fitness program. Physical fitness program can be part of a complete wellness and can improve your health. Physical activity can reduce your risk of chronic disease, improve your balance and coordination, and even improve your sleep habits and self-esteem. Experience Recovery will begin each day with movement that will include, exercise, yoga and regular outside activities to enhance you in healing the body.

Life Skills

Experience Recovery assist individuals gaining and enhancing their life skills. Self-reflection, examining your thoughts and feelings as you learn new skills. Experience Recovery offers individuals the opportunity to learn the skills needed to live a more healthier and happier life. People have an innate ability to gain and show resiliency when the skills needed are applied to life. In examining all areas of your life such as anger, communication, conflict management, discover your spiritual path, practical life, you begin to gain awareness self-esteem and self-confidence.

Vocational Services

Experience Recovery believes that providing vocational services is a vital part of relapse prevention. Because substance use disorder can be a barrier to employment, Experience Recovery offers vocational services. Experience Recovery assist clients to develop a realistic view of their skills, abilities and limitations. We offer vocational screening that is intended to examine different factors contributing to the individual’s vocational potential. Experience Recovery will assist you in making a plan for achieving those goals. We want to help you shift away from dependence to independence.


Yoga encompasses adding postures, meditation, focused breathing, and mindful attention towards one’s health to create a meaningful and healthy lifestyle. Experience Recovery offers yoga for the purpose of integrating the mind, body, and soul. To some, yoga may seem like a good opportunity to lie down, stretch, relax, and not much else. However, current research shows that yoga and mindfulness are promising complementary therapies for treating and preventing addictive behaviors (Khanna & Greeson, 2013).
